What we do

Welcome to CUPE Local 3985, proudly representing the dedicated workers of the Harbour Station Commission at TD Station. As a union, we are committed to advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, and respectful treatment for all our members. Our role is to ensure that the voices of our members are heard and that their rights are protected.

We negotiate and enforce the collective agreement, which outlines everything from compensation and benefits to scheduling and workplace policies. Our union also provides support and guidance in resolving workplace issues, representing members in disputes, and ensuring that all employees are treated fairly and equitably.

Beyond the workplace, CUPE Local 3985 is dedicated to fostering a strong sense of community and solidarity among our members. We organize meetings, events, and initiatives to keep our members informed, engaged, and united in our shared goals.

Whether you’re new to the team or a long-standing member, CUPE Local 3985 is here to support you every step of the way. Together, we work to create a positive and empowering environment for all workers at TD Station.

Equality statement

Union solidarity is based on the principle that union members are equal and deserve mutual respect at all levels. Any behaviour that creates conflict prevents us from working together to strengthen our union.

As unionists, mutual respect, cooperation and understanding are our goals. We should neither condone nor tolerate behaviour that undermines the dignity or self-esteem of any individual or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment.

Discriminatory speech or conduct which is racist, sexist, transphobic or homophobic hurts and thereby divides us. So too, does discrimination on the basis of ability, age, class, religion, language and ethnic origin.

Sometimes discrimination takes the form of harassment. Harassment means using real or perceived power to abuse, devalue or humiliate. Harassment should not be treated as a joke. The uneasiness and resentment that it creates are not feelings that help us grow as a union.

Discrimination and harassment focus on characteristics that make us different; and they reduce our capacity to work together on shared concerns such as decent wages, safe working conditions, and justice in the workplace, society and in our union.

CUPE’s policies and practices must reflect our commitment to equality. Members, staff and elected officers must be mindful that all persons deserve dignity, equality and respect.
